What does Kids of Grace use for Curriculum?
At Kids of Grace Academy Micro-schools we strive to choose curriculums that have high educational standards and are engaging to the student. We also take into account the time and commitment that will be put on families who participate in micro-school. We want students to have a successful learning experience without over burdening the family.
Below is a breakdown of the curriculums we have chosen for each micro-school class.

Art 1st-2nd: Elements of Art Cycle
Curriculum: How to Teach Art to Children; Music Enrichment (Memoria Press)
*Art and Music textbooks do not need to be purchased for home.

Students will be introduced to the seven elements of art: line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space, completing simple exercises in class to reinforce each concept.
The second half of this cycle will allow students to try their hand at imitating important and well-known works of art.
The music enrichment component of this class will introduce students to important composers and their most famous works. Brief unit studies may offer hands-on access to recorders, glockenspiels, or rhythm instruments.

Our art studies will take students on a survey of well-known artists and the history of various compositions. Hands-on access to a wonderful variety of art mediums (watercolors, pastels, clay, etc.) will allow students to practice imitating the classic works they study in class.
The music enrichment component of this class will introduce students to important composers and their most famous works. Brief unit studies may offer hands-on access to recorders, glockenspiels, or rhythm instruments.

Students will enjoy getting their hands on a fun range of mediums as each lesson will lead them on a step-by-step process to create beautiful pieces of their own.
The music enrichment component of this class will introduce students to important composers and their most famous works. Brief unit studies may offer hands-on access to recorders, glockenspiels, or rhythm instruments.

Bible & Theology
1st-6th: Adventure Club Cycle + Bible Bee
Curriculum: Adventure Club from Grace Curriculum + KOGA Bible Bee
*Students will need the student book for class. The student book reinforces Bible verses and teaching points, as well as tells a fun story to emphasize what is being learned.

Adventure Club will focus on Bible memorization and teaching children the truth of God’s Word in a fun, meaningful way.
In a three year cycle , students will work through three volumes of this curriculum:
-God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
-Man, Sin, and Salvation
-The Church, the Bible, and the End Times
A portion of our class time will also be spent preparing students to participate in KOGA's very own Bible Bee! Friendly, competitive events will challenge students on their verse memorization and wholistic Bible knowledge.

The program consists of five primary components: logic, theology, apologetics, worldview analysis, and a book club focusing on literature from notable Christian authors. Additionally, an at-home Bible reading plan and parental resources will be provided.

Curriculum: Primary Arts of Language: Reading-Writing

Start with the reading program, where students learn phonics and sight words while playing games and completing other engaging activities. Students will work through IEW Units 1–7 as they learn to take notes, retell narrative stories, summarize references, write from pictures, and compose their own fables, myths, and fairy tales. Students will also increase memorization and expand their vocabulary skills with selected classic poems, and practice foundational grammar skills as they work through the whimsical Fix It! Grammar Level One: Nose Tree.

This theme-based writing curriculum allows students to delve into the excitement of explorers, battles, land expansion, famous ships, and founding fathers while learning to write with the IEW Structure and Style® writing method.

Curriculum: Lost Tools of Writing - in-class use only

Medieval Literature & The Lost Tools of Writing is a class where students learn the art of persuasive writing about issues in selected literature. Students cultivate wisdom and virtue for each essay that they write as they work through three stages: invention, arrangement, and elocution. With each assignment, more tools will be added to create lengthier, well-ordered, and stylish essays. Students will also learn literary techniques authors use in their works for characterization, to create mood, and to emphasize themes.
Students will:- Learn to discuss elements of literature: context, setting, character, plot, and theme
- Gain an understanding of selected literary terms and identify them in texts
- Understand the three elements of writing persuasive essays: invention, arrangement, and elocution
- Know how to create an ANI chart to hold affirmative, negative and interesting information
- Learn the five common topics to help formulate questions
- Learn strategies to develop an exordium
- Learn strategies to create a compelling amplification connecting text to the world
- Learn to use elocution elements of parallelism, strong verbs, antithesis, simile, alliteration, metaphor and assonance
- Use technology to create a Biblical Allusions project providing examples of Bible stories referenced in literature, movies, etc.
- Create a game that reviews literary terms
- Annotate literature and present weekly observations documented in a literature response sheet.

Curriculum: Singapore - Dimensions

A team of experts created Dimensions Math to provide a comprehensive, supported, and beautiful Singapore math experience. Singapore Math provides a mastery-spiral method hybrid to lay a solid foundation in arithmetic that will be built upon in future years.
Singapore 4 A/B:
This elementary math course will begin by familiarizing students with numbers up to one million and cover a logical sequence of higher concepts including:

This course will emphasize incremental development of new material and continuous review of previously taught math concepts. Students will learn functions and coordinate graphing, integers, exponential expressions, and prime factorization.
Students will also study the order of operations, number lines, decimal place value, how to find the percent of a number, how to round decimal numbers, attributes of geometric solids, and more.

Math 8/7 - Middle School Level
Algebra 1/2 - High School Level
Theses courses will be a culmination of pre-algebra mathematics, a full pre-algebra course and an introduction to geometry and discrete mathematics. Topics covered include prime and composite numbers; fractions & decimals; order of operations, coordinates, exponents, square roots, ratios, algebraic phrases, probability, the Pythagorean Theorem and more.

Algebra 1 will cover all of the traditional first-year algebra topics while helping students build higher-order thinking skills, real-world application skills, reasoning, and an understanding of interconnecting math strands. The course will focus on algebraic thinking through multiple representations, including verbal, numeric, symbolic, and graphical, while graphing calculator labs model mathematical situations.

Algebra 2 will prepare students for calculus through explicit embedded geometry instruction. Trigonometry concepts, statistics, and applications for other subjects such as physics and chemistry are also included.
Distributed, color-coded strands cover number sense and foundations of algebra; linear functions; matrices; polynomials and polynomial functions; rational and radical functions; linear systems; probability and statistics; quadratic functions; trigonometry, exponential and logarithmic functions; conic sections; and sequences, series, and logic.

Exploring Creation with Astronomy
Students in this course will explore the far reaches of the universe, with a focus on the God who created it! They will learn about the sun, planets, asteroid belt, dwarf planets, the Kuiper belt galaxies, nebulae, and even black holes as they reveal the marvel and might of our loving Creator.
Your student’s awareness of the beauty of the universe and its Creator will expand with each in-class experience as they engage in hands-on activities and experiments. A fun notebooking component of the course will solidify their understanding of the concepts they study each week.

This course is designed to equip middle school students with the tools they need to easily transition from elementary to middle school level sciences.
A true General Science course, we will be covering a variety of branches of science including astronomy, meteorology, oceanography, earth study, geology, paleontology, and environmental science modules giving students a solid foundation in that broad field of study.
Students will learn:
How to utilize the proper scientific method in a detailed and engaging way.
How to record data and report it.
How to read, create, and utilize several types of graphs.

1st-2nd Grade American Geography and Literature
Curricula: Our 50 States and Beautiful Feet Books
*The instructor will send a list of needed materials for at-home study.

In this course, students will be guided on a journey across the United States, highlighting key landmarks and the stories of real people. Studies will be centered in God’s Word and will introduce students to each of the fifty states, plus Washington D.C. and each of the five major U.S. territories.
Lessons will introduce kids to a variety of places and topics important to each state, feature a song from that state's history, and tell a story that focuses on a real person, a real family, or a real place that is part of the fabric of that state. Supplementary literature suggestions will enhance your student’s enjoyment of the material they are learning.
This course will be on a two-year cycle where students will observe approximately one state per class.
3rd-6th Grade Early American History, Geography, and Literature
Curricula A combination of America’s Story 1-3 (Master Books), Our Star-Spangled Story 1-2 (Notgrass), & Early American History (Beautiful Feet)

In this course, students will study America’s rich history through detailed observation of the historical timeline, complimented by a strong literature component.
Through this four-year cycle, 3rd-6th grade students will be trekking through the discovery of the new world, the founding of the United States of America, mapping the states in detail, observing the formation of American culture, learning “the why” behind many of the early political decisions, and studying the uniqueness of this great country.
We will draw from multiple curricula and use classic literature to enrich the lessons.

Year One - Creation to Cathedrals
Students will be led through ‘Part 1: Creation to Cathedrals’ in this course, guided chronologically through the history of the world, exploring key events, people, and places in each lesson.
Each unit of this course will include one lesson from five categories:

-God’s Wonder (exploration of geographic wonders around the world)
