Where Home Meets School

Overview

A Timber Trails Micro-School Day exists of two separate days: a {MEG} A-Day and a B-Day. Families can register for one or both, depending on their schedule and educational goals. The 1st- 6th-grade grades are split into three classrooms: 1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, and 5th-6th grade, respectively. A paid teacher will lead each classroom. The teachers will lesson plan each day off the published scope and sequence.

At home, families can follow along with each subject's weekly reading and assignments as they see fit. In class, teachers will primarily focus on activities and projects based on the at-home bookwork.

  • A Primary Schedule is our complete schedule at the grade school level. It is broken into two days, an A-Day and a B-Day. This schedule is broken down so that families can choose which segments they roll in that best fit their schedule.

  • Families can join one or both Opt-in classes before a regular Academy Day. During a regular Academy Day, students will remain in grade groups closely aligned with their ages. However, in the Opt-in classes, students can study these subjects at a level and pace that fits them regardless of age.

  • The Academy Day exists in two separate days. Families can register for one or both, depending on their schedule and educational goals. At the Acorn level (Preschool-Kindergarten), a parent is required to be on campus and no Opt-in class is available. At the Evergreen Level (1st-6th grade) grades are split into three classrooms. A trained teacher will lead each classroom. The teachers will lesson plan each day off the published scope and sequence. At home, families can follow along with each subject's weekly reading and assignments as they see fit. In class, teachers will primarily focus on enrichment activities and projects based on the at-home reading. Following the curriculums won’t be required, but it is encouraged to get the most out of the Academy Day.

  • Depending on registration, the classroom breakdown may vary from campus to campus. However, the following is the intended classroom division at Primary Academy Day.

    1st-2 grade

    3rd-4th grade

    5th-6th grade

A staff teacher will be assigned to each classroom.

  • The teacher’s job is to partner with the parents in their child’s education. While the family is responsible for the overall accounting of their family’s education, the teacher is responsible for managing the classroom during an Academy Day, creating and executing a lesson plan for each class period based on the established scope and sequence, and communicating with them in a timely and reasonable way.

  • Parents are responsible for their kids’ education. While this responsibility does not mean that a mom or dad must be the sole educator of every subject, it does mean that they must be accountable and responsible for what their kids are learning and who is teaching them.

Our goal at Kids of Grace Academy is to put excellent and trained teachers in the classroom to guide and direct the class time. However, families need at-home engagement to get the most out of their kids’ education.

  • At the Primary level, parents are encouraged to volunteer on campus in some way, shape, or form. However, we understand that this may not be practical for every situation. When registering for classes, a drop-off fee can be added at checkout to allow families to drop their kids off during the Academy Day. The drop-off option is a privilege, not an entitlement. Should a student’s behavior consistently require that parent remain on site, there will be no refund for the drop-off fee.

  • We developed our scope and sequence and selected our curricula to make it easy for families to track and engage with their kids at home. At-home reading assignments will be listed at the beginning of each academic year. The family determines to assign homework or any additional projects at the Primary Level.
